Spotfire Software Engineer

Job Summary

This position is responsible for creation of data insights and actionable information for our healthcare applications. This includes working individually or as part of a team under general supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Spotfire Specific Duties

  • Create, configure, and deploy detailed TIBCO Spotfire visualizations and Information Links
  • Based on requirements determine appropriate visualization chart type (e.g. Bar charts, scatter plots, heat maps, etc)
  • Use Spotfire scripting language to create calculated measures and manipulate data tables
  • Connect to various data sources including SQL, Postgres, and Big Data Databases


    General Duties

  • Codes, tests, debugs and documents software applications using established coding standards and methodologies
  • Work within an agile scrum team, contributing to an atmosphere of continuous improvement
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Work with architects, designers, business analysts and others to design and implement high quality software solutions
  • Perform code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices
  • Understands how to interpret database models and effectively collaborate with Database Engineers
  • Assist product owners in backlog grooming, story breakdown and story estimation
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders throughout the organization
  • Document software changes for use by other engineers, quality assurance and documentation specialists
  • Master the technologies, languages, and practices used by the team and project assigned
  • Trouble shoot and resolve issues in existing software
  • Other duties as assigned



  • BA/BS in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent work experience

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Mastered basic programming concepts, including object oriented programming
  • Mastered technologies and tools utilized by team and project assigned
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience developing software applications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience developing with TIBCO Spotfire 
Skills & Requirements


  • Must be proficient in basic programming skills and proficient in one or more of the following languages

    (Specific languages needed will vary based on development department or project)

    • JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, IronPython, R, Big Data
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to track software issues to successful resolution
  • Ability to work in a collaborative fast paced environment
  • Ability to learn new development language quickly and apply that knowledge effectively
