Sales Engineer

The Sales Engineer will provide technical direction in support of sales activities. This person is a customer-focused technical professional who provides high level pre-sales support and guidance to customers and collaborates with Sales Executives and partners to recommend and develop appropriate customer solution offerings. The Sales Engineer acts in a consultative fashion and is looked to as an expert in his/her field by the account team and customers. The ideal candidate will have a technical background and strong business sense as well as the ability to clearly communicate and present to stakeholders.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conduct detailed customer requirements, discovery and analysis
  • Refine and research technical requirements of the opportunity
  • Propose and design technical solutions which include creative prototypes and proof of concept
  • Act as an interface between the Sales and technical staff for product management and development
  • Work closely with Cvent engineering on customer requirements and new product direction
  • Work closely with customers in the design and implementation/integration of Cvent products
  • Deliver web based training sessions to clients
  • Promote new and innovative approaches to addressing business challenges and problems
  • Maintain a broad-level of knowledge of industry trends and how Cvent products add value
  • Set and manage expectations with senior stakeholders and team members
  • Respond to technical, security and functionality related RFP questions
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned
  • Gather client business requirements for creation of statements of work for the Cvent Integration Hub
  • Configuration of integrations for clients who contract for integration projects with Cvent Integration Hub

What You Need for this Position

  • Bachelor's degree with strong academic credentials, technical degree preferred
  • 1-3 years of sales or customer centric experience in a high-tech B2B environment
  • Strong technical and analytical skills or aptitude
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to present to a variety of external audiences
  • Exceptional written communication. This role requires an ability to understand and articulate both the business benefits (value proposition) and technical advantages of Cvent products and solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to make and take responsibility for decisions on major technical issues
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and execute in a methodical and disciplined manner
  • Resilience and ability to handle stressful situations effectively while managing several tasks
  • Basic understanding of Relational Databases, Data Structures, SQL, and the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Basic understanding of APIS, SOAP Web Services and RESTful principles is desired
  • Must be flexible and willing to undertake a wide variety of challenging tasks
  • Ability to provide constructive criticism while maintaining positive relationship with other team members
  • Zealous attention to detail
