The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for customer analysis, collections of customer accounts, resolving account discrepancies, negotiating payment plans with customers, interacting with outside credit agencies, and maintaining the financial reporting functions related to accounts receivable.



  • Compile and review current and potential customer credit data
  • Conduct phone calls to maintain customer relationships to facilitate customer satisfaction and collect on customer balances accounts within Company guidelines
  • Analyze, reconcile and report on customer activity
  • Work with other groups, including Contracts, Billing and Sales, to improve processes for proper invoicing and error prevention
  • Review individual and/or commercial customer files to identify and select delinquent accounts for collection
  • Prepare monthly journal entries to record bad debt and sales returns & allowance (SR&A)
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for trade AR, unbilled AR, bad debt reserve and SR&A reserve, including domestic and Canadian subsidiaries
  • Update quarter-to-date and year-to-date roll-forward schedules for accounts receivable and reserves
  • Generate financial ratios to evaluate customers' financial status


Skills & Other Requirements


  • EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • EXPERIENCE:0-2 years’ experience



  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new tasks
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Microsoft Office products
