Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial information and performing a variety of accounting duties associated with the timely and accurate preparation and reporting of financial data, in accordance with applicable accounting, industry, regulatory and institutional principles and policies.

  • Assist other accountants with data collection and assimilation for month-end and year-end closing and reporting, including financial audits
  • Enter financial data, prepare accounts/financial statements, and document business transactions
  • Ensure routine journal entries are prepared in accordance with monthly and year-end closing calendars
  • Completes bank reconciliations monthly by deadlines and ensures ensure workpapers and supporting documentation supporting entries is accurate and follows departmental standards.
  • Review and process employee expenses, educate employees on the expense reimbursement process, and resolve employee issues and questions
  • Provide documentation and analyses as needed to internal and external auditors by requested deadlines
  • Research and respond timely to inquiries from business managers; provide necessary information and act as a liaison with other departments to ensure accurate recording of all transactions into the general and operating ledgers
  • Document existing processes and makes appropriate recommendations for process improvements
  • Assist with researching accounting issues and special projects as requested.
  • Assist in budget/cash flow forecast preparation, including analysis of revenue and expenditure trends
  • Perform various ad hoc projects including researching, analyzing and summarizing data/analysis requests as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Accounting principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Mathematics / mathematic reasoning; knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Computer Systems including Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and financial management software solutions

·       Bachelor's degree in accounting

·       0-3+ years accounting experience

·       Computer Systems including Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and financial management software solutions
