Lead UI Designer

 

CentralSquare is looking for a Lead UI Designer to help define and drive the future of design in the public safety. Ideal candidates will pursue practical, forward-thinking design that combines intuitive, consumer-grade experiences with powerful enterprise software. Lead designers have a passion for user-centered design and craft, know how to implement effective research and design processes, mentor other designers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative user experiences across CentralSquare’s Public Safety products.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create interaction patterns, workflows, screens and UI components that help drive forward-thinking user experiences for CentralSquare’s products
  • Extend, improve and advocate for CentralSquare’s visual design language, pattern libraries and usage guidelines
  • Review feature work and help maintain standards and consistency across feature teams
  • Understand business requirements and objectives and help clarify them for others
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop product requirements and deliver features
  • Work with developers to implement designs/prototypes into code
  • Meet regularly with stakeholders to discuss project status, goals, roadblocks and areas for improvement
  • Lead design critiques, stakeholder reviews and customer demos
  • Experiment with interactive prototypes and constantly seek ways to improve the existing application
  • Stay well-informed of evolving design technologies/methodologies and help drive process improvements
  • Maintain domain expertise in order to reconcile design best practices with business needs
  • Actively mentor less experienced designers and assume responsibility for their professional development
  • Provide on-demand subject matter and domain expertise when needed to ensure product/team/individual excellence
  • Spend time planning, evaluating, organizing, and managing design work across multiple products and cross-functional teams
  • Help shape and promote a design culture throughout CentralSquare 

 

Skills & Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Expert level understanding of graphic design fundamentals (typography, color theory, layout, etc.)
  • Extreme attention to detail (pixel-level sensitivity)
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems utilized across multiple products and distributed teams
  • HTML/CSS mastery
  • Strong working knowledge of JS with the ability prototype robust interactions
  • Advanced practitioner of User Centered Design, Agile and other development methodologies
  • Appreciation and understanding for all aspects of design
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead other designers (professional maturity)
  • Experience mentoring, supporting and developing other designers
  • Mastery over Sketch, Plant, and prototyping tools like Invision or UXPin, etc.
  • Proven ability to develop domain and product expertise
