Technical Project Manager

Cvent is looking for a Technical Project Manager to join our rapidly growing Technology Team. Cvent’s Technology Team is responsible for the design, development and operation of the company’s suite of cloud-based software products. The technology department boasts sharp technical skills and the ability to use collaboration and analytical prowess to work through complex problems. The tech team focuses on releasing innovative, feature-filled products that solidify Cvent’s position as a leader in the events industry.



  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify and design new value-add features and functionality and bring them to market as vertical-specific product extensions
  • Determine and communicate to stakeholders any tradeoffs required when prioritizing one feature over another
  • Provide Engineering with thorough user-stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria
  • Work side-by-side with Engineering and Quality Assurance to build and deliver product offerings while strictly adhering to business and compliance requirements
  • Engage in proactive collaboration and thought leadership with PM counterparts globally
  • Coordinate project work teams consisting of R&D / SRE / blended teams
  • Report and present status updates for communications planning and management
  • Facilitate software proof-of-concepts projects from concept phase to production
  • Incorporate risk mitigation strategy and contingency planning into project
  • Perform analysis that reflects actual vs. planned variances toward continuous improvement
  • Understand and stay current on industry trends, competitive landscape and sector activity


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Business Administration, Information, Computer Systems degree or equivalent
  • 4-8 years’ experience in managing a program or projects using standardized PM methodologies, especially within Software industry
  • 2+ years as direct manager for one or more project managers
  • PRINCE2, Project Management Professional (PMP)® or equivalent 2-year study in Project Management
  • Experience within all project phases and knowledge areas: communication, cost, human resource, scope, risk, contingency, time, quality, integration, and procurement
  • Process driven mindset, detailed-oriented, rapid learner, enjoys trouble-shooting complex issues
  • Strong aptitude in project skills; teamwork skills; strong desire to empower others
  • Have experience influencing cross-functional teams, building relationships with stakeholders
  • Have strong opinions, weakly held
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheet or other standard Project Management tool
  • Familiarity with tools such as Tableau, Business Objects, Cognos, etc. is a plus
