Patient AR Specialist

Job Summary
The Patient AR Specialist is responsible for ensuring patient statements are sent monthly, all credits are
addressed by refund request or transferred to an outstanding balance, along with meeting all AR goals and cash
collection goals. The Patient AR Specialist serves as the point of contact for the collection agency and submits all
accounts to the collection agency after approval from the client.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Process payment on merchant accounts and record payment within the billing software, as appropriate
• Address all credits by refund request or by transfer to an outstanding balance
• Meet all AR goals and cash collection goals
• Ensure patient statements are sent monthly
• Communicate past due accounts to the client
• Submit all designated accounts to the collection agency after approval from the client.
• Perform Service Line Transfer

Skills & Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required
• AS Degree or BS Degree preferred
• Medical Billing Certificate preferred

Minimum Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years of Customer Service experience
• Healthcare experience a plus
• Medical software experience a plus
• Medical Office experience a plus

• Ability to read and interpret Explanation of Benefits
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Strong computer skills
• Knowledge of physician practice processes and workflows required
• Ability to perform in high stress situations
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to maintain personal work load while working effectively in a team environment
• Consistent attendance

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where
they will consistently be seated for the majority of the work day
• This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a key board the majority of their work day
• This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods of time to observe their own and others’
work, as well as, in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/or mobile devices
• The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
• The work environment is an open room with other associates and noise from others will be part of the regular workday
