Associate Software Engineer II

Position Summary

Associate Software Engineer II is responsible for writing software code specific to stories received in scrum.  This is the first level of being a true programming professional with DealerSocket.  You are expected to program with little or no help from a mentor or a pair programmer from a technical perspective.    This position assumes you have a full working knowledge at a basic level of the languages and frameworks listed below in the Job Qualifications.  You are expected to contribute to the overall velocity and completion of full stories with the majority if not all of the code writing referencing your training and other reference material with some help from your scrum team peers.  You are expected to adopt and maintain best practices for software engineering while implementing solutions to engineering projects using cutting edge technologies.

Essential Duties

  • Be certified on the languages below in the Job Qualifications
  • Be able to contribute code and solutions based on your previous training and referencing help, manuals or other resources on your own
  • Solve complex software engineering tasks
  • Troubleshoot and solve code level problems quickly and efficiently
  • Create automated unit and integration tests
  • Follow established coding standards and practices
  • Collaborate with members of a SCRUM team to ensure success (Product Owners, Engineers, QA, Designer)
  • Participate in all SCRUM related events such as Sprint Planning, Retrospectives and Backlog Grooming
  • Communicate effectively with team members, internal and external customers
  • Stay current with industry standard tools and technologies
  • Facilitate the decomposition of business requirements into Use Cases and Acceptance Criteria
  • Perform risk analysis on each work item completed by a SCRUM Team
  • Coordinate and participate in risk-based regression testing for a SCRUM Team
  • Participate in Deployment Testing exercises as needed
  • Collaborate and pair program with other Associate I team members
Skills & Requirements



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience or equivalent knowledge


  • 6 months Software Engineering - Associate Software Engineer I qualifies
  • Agile/SCRUM

Skills & Expertise in the following:

  • C# .NET
  • LINQ, Generics, Lambda expressions
  • Web Services and serialization, XML, JSON, SOAP, WCF, REST
  • Unit testing
  • SQL Server and the SQL language
  • JavaScript (Angular and/or React JavaScript libraries), jQuery, Bootstrap
  • HTML5 and CSS3
