Ping Identity is looking for a passionate product manager to lead key product initiatives. You will be responsible for the market success of your products by evolving the roadmap and leading execution that meets current and future customer requirements, market demands, and the changing technology landscape.


As a member of the product management team, you will have insight into all phases of the product development cycle. This role is highly collaborative, as you will work closely with engineering, design, marketing, and sales, to build and manage a key Ping program and services.You will work closely with prospects, customers, and partners to internalize their goals and needs. You will faithfully champion for them to the engineering teams and execute iterative releases that achieve those goals within Ping's overall vision. You will coordinate with an extended team of stakeholders and staff to help ensure customer adoption and success.

The preferred candidate will have 3 - 8 years of experience in one or more of the following identity and access management solutions: user administration, directory services, and/or mobile identity and identity services. Consulting experience a plus.


Job Functions:

  • Build relationships and gather input from customers, prospects and technology partners, to understand customer scenarios and technical requirements. Act as technical expert on customer use cases.
  • Validate decisions and assumptions with product analytics, surveys, experiments, and other data as necessary.
  • Provide detailed input into product planning process and priority of features for communication to engineering. Evangelize your product roadmap and vision to gain alignment, excitement, and momentum.
  • Drive big innovations for new market opportunities and smaller improvements for customer acquisition, adoption, and growth.
  • Make tough prioritization tradeoffs to balance necessary tactical improvements without starving long-term investment. Know when and how to say “no”.
  • Develop detailed technical requirements and work closely with engineering feature and component teams to ensure customer and market requirements are being met.
  • Work daily with engineering teams to refine stories and requirements, understand acceptance criteria, and consider implementation tradeoffs.
  • Coordinate with Chief Technology Officer on monitoring technology and industry innovations.
  • Support an extended team of marketing, sales, training, support, and others so that they can take your product to market and drive customer adoption.
  • Support technology partnerships, including technical expertise on Ping Identity products, identifying technical integration points, technology value proposition and creation of complementary technical presentation materials.
  • Develop plan for staying current with Partner releases, as well as creating road maps to address new or changing technical requirements.
  • Create technically oriented materials including internal and external tech notes, whitepapers, and customer-facing technical presentations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Support an extended team of marketing, sales, training, support, and others so that they can take your product to market and drive customer adoption.
  • Less than 50% travel.


Desired Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will be someone who has initiative, ownership, process orientation and agility. These qualities will provide stability in a start up environment.
  • The successful candidate will be professional, display strong interpersonal skills and team orientation, and will be customer savvy.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent communications skills in all forms, including technical presentations (development and delivery) and technical documentation, especially proficient at simplifying complex concepts and focusing on customer value.
  • The successful candidate is both creative and technical, in order to help engineering evaluate and consider alternative solutions to requirements and challenges, always seeking the best combination of customer requirements, user experience, product flexibility, and time to market.
  • The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent 6+ years of experience, or Master's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent and 4+ years of experience, or PhD and 2+ years experience.
  • Strong technical communication skills with proven experience using them in an Open Source development environment.
  • Understanding of Open-source development practices and processes.
  • Willingness and ability to own and drive all aspects of a program from planning to successful launch, not just schedule management.
