Advanced: Providing National COVID-19 Contingency Service in the UK

As COVID-19 began to impact the U.K. at scale, healthcare providers faced the challenge of rapidly expanding service provisions to address the surge in patients. Advanced has supported the National Health Service (NHS) for many years and was able to stand up frontline services and expand their software offerings quickly. The Company’s software enabled retired clinicians to return to frontline care, while also allowing general practitioners (GPs) to hold virtual patient appointments during the pandemic.

Adastra is Advanced’s patient management software for urgent and unplanned emergency care. The platform powers 80% of the NHS’s 111 providers. Using Adastra, clinicians and GPs can now work from the safety of their homes, while advising callers with COVID-19 symptoms.

The Adastra system expansion was completed in 10 days and can process tens of thousands of inquiries per day. With up to 3,000 additional clinicians now using the system simultaneously, Adastra ensures clinical assistance is consistent and available for patient care during the pandemic.

In addition, Advanced has also signed the C-19 Business Pledge led by the U.K. government. This pledge commits to supporting the national pandemic effort by caring for its employees, customers and communities.
