Senior Privacy & Compliance Specialist

The Privacy & Compliance Specialist supports a global data privacy and compliance program and manages key work streams as part of the MINDBODY Legal team. The position is responsible for the design, development, implementation and measurement of the compliance program; identifying privacy risks, assessing the design of processes, working cross-functionally with Cybersecurity and Internal Audit to identify solutions and promoting solutions to management.



  • Serve as the primary representative for all privacy inquiries, audits, and ongoing efforts
  • Assist the Legal department in the continuous improvement of the company’s privacy and compliance program
  • Manage tools for documenting and tracking compliance with company data privacy obligations
  • Work across organizational teams to ensure that privacy and compliance processes are fully understood and implemented
  • Create and maintain detailed project tasks and communicate across multiple functional teams
  • Prepare privacy and compliance training materials and conduct training for internal teams
  • Provide project management support for enterprise wide compliance initiatives
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
  • Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate
  • Coordinate annual review of privacy and compliance-related certifications
  • Other duties as assigned


  • 10+ years’ work experience designing, launching, and managing a comparable privacy program from scratch
  • Experience analyzing business processes, putting together process flow and recommending process changes and efficiencies
  • Experience working in a global SaaS business
  • Experience dealing with all levels of management across different teams, including managing conflicts
  • Familiarity with U.S. and international privacy laws and standards such as HIPPA, CCPA, and GDPR
  • Strong project management skills and experience project managing compliance projects
  • A self-starter, positive attitude, and enjoys learning and staying current with industry
  • developments, regulations, and best practices
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic, sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • CIPP, CISSP, and/or CISA certifications
  • Experience with ePrivay Directive and/or Privacy Shield
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction
  • Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities
  • Sound business judgement and flexibility/adaptability to manage multiple wide-ranging matters, conflicting deadlines, and new areas of expertise as business needs change
  • In-depth knowledge of the compliance industry’s standards and regulations
  • Currently lives on west coast or willing to relocate to San Luis Obispo or San Diego
  • BS/BA degree
