The Assistant Controller reports to the Corporate Controller and assists in all controlling functions of the accounting function.  The role will require heavy involvement in managing the monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close as well as managing staff accountant time.  The role will also be heavily involved in the annual financial statement audit.  


  • Assist the controller in the direction of the accounting functions of an organization
  • Leads decision making and resolution of complex accounting issues
  • Overseeing end to end ownership of multiple significant accounting processes
  • Ensure proper internal controls are in place and followed
  • Lead and/or assist on special projects as needed
  • Provide support for system upgrades and implementations
  • Monitors team accountability for KPIs
  • Provides company-wide leadership in the areas of accounting and account analysis
  • Develops and maintains strong partnerships with key stakeholders to facilitate and maintain consistent and accurate financial statements
  • Monitors the consistency and accuracy of accounting reports and ledgers, and financial data provided by other teams
  • Reviews monthly balance sheet and income statement flux analyses for management reporting
  • Oversees the preparation of documents for the review of outside auditors and works to resolve open comments and findings
  • Leads a team of staff and managers who are responsible for financial statement reporting and account analysis
  • Recommends and establishes policy related to accounting analysis in compliance with GAAP and internal policies and ensures senior management is aware of emerging financial accounting rules and trends
  • Coaches, motivates, and develops direct reports
  • Develops and maintains an environment of continuous process improvement of accounting analysis processes
  • Assisting on acquisitions from performing pre-acquisition due diligence through post-acquisition integration activities and accounting
  • Assist in ensuring timeliness and accuracy of the consolidated financial statements on a monthly and annual basis


  • Degree in accounting, business, or finance
  • CPA with public accounting experience required and Big 4 experience preferred
  • Proficient in Excel and Outlook
  • Direct and recent experience with SEC and US GAAP technical accounting
  • Experience managing, developing, and motivating staff
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • 7+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic and growth environment
  • Able to quickly grasp company operations and business drivers and communicate effectively across the organization and to upper management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to articulate verbally and written, debate, evaluate and document complex technical accounting issues, ability to think quickly and present to an audience
  • High professional standards and personal and professional integrity
  • Proven ability to work with minimal direction, as well as be resourceful and independent in solving problems and multi-task effectively
  • Strong attention to detail along with the ability to see the big picture
  • Experience with complex accounting processes (e.g., revenue recognition, expense recognition, foreign currency translation, consolidation, stock-based compensation, business combination accounting, and capitalization of software development costs)
  • Excellent judgement and planning skills
