Job Title: Azure/Technical Architect       


Reporting To: Professional Services Team Manager

 

Location: London

 

 

 

Main Purpose of the Job

 

To provide optimal value to the business by:

 

  • Designing technical solutions which are secure, conform to best practice and operational support standards and which align effectively with the customer’s overall IT strategy

  • Define, publicise and refine standards for Azure deployments working in conjunction with product, pre-sales and operational teams as necessary

  • To be involved in the implementation of technical delivery phase of projects

  • Work with pre-sales team to identify and design Azure solutions

 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

  • Define, publicise and refine standards for Azure deployments working in conjunction with product, pre-sales and operational teams as necessary

  • Designing technical solutions which are secure, conform to best practice and operational support standards and which align effectively with the client’s overall IT strategy

  • Act as technology champion for Azure technologies

  • Act as virtual team leader for Azure trained resources providing mentoring, development support and technical oversight for areas relating to Azure technologies

  • Work with pre-sales team to identify and design Azure solutions

 

  • Maintaining an awareness of technological developments and best practice and adapting and applying new and appropriate ideas

 

  • Where required, providing technical guidance and advice to technical delivery resources

  • Where appropriate, to be involved in the implementation of technical delivery phase of projects

 

  • Maintaining an agreed billable utilisation rate by ensuring that work undertaken is appropriately authorised and approved as billable.

 

  • Working within the appropriate change control procedures.

 

  • Producing quality documentation using Advanced standard templates

 

  • Working within Advanced and any relevant client Information Security and Acceptable Use Policy and Procedures

Knowledge and Experience

Essential Skills:

 

  • Proven experience (ideally 2 years +) in designing technical solutions in medium to large scale enterprises

     

  • A detailed understanding of design and deployment for and exposure to the following technologies/practices

     

    • Experience of migrations on to Azure platform
    • Experience of implementing blended Azure and On-Premises environments.
    • Knowledge of key Azure areas e.g. Azure VMs, Azure storage, Azure AD, Azure Backup, VNets
    • Knowledge of Azure tools/services e.g. ExpressRoute, Load Balancer, Enterprise Mobility + Security, ASR, OMS, VPN Networking
    • Windows Server and Desktop

     

  • A good understanding of design and deployment concepts used in and exposure to the following technologies

     

    • Microsoft’s Office 365 offering with experience in Exchange Online and OneDrive beneficial
    • Virtualisation technologies (vSphere and Hyper-V)
    • Messaging technologies (Microsoft Exchange)
    • Security (PKI and End Point protection)
    • Storage systems (NAS, SANs and vSANs)
    • Data centre hosting
    • Networking (WAN, LAN, Internet, Firewall)
    • End Point Management (e.g. SCCM)
    • Load balancers – hardware and/or virtual
    • Enterprise management products e.g. for monitoring, backup and anti-virus

     

     

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  •  

     

    Desirable Skills:

     

  • Experience/understanding of:
    • Working/implementing in a shared services infrastructure environment
    • Cloud migration, integration and hybrid services for technologies such as Exchange, file storage, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft CRM
    • ITIL, PRINCE2 and TOGAF methodologies/frameworks
    • Unified Communication technologies (e.g. Lync/Skype for Business, Cisco CUCM)



Education / Qualifications

 

Essential Qualifications

 

  • MCSE or equivalent experience

  • Degree level or equivalent
  • VMware VCA/VCAP
  • Cisco CCNA
