The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for building an environment which enables teams to frequently deliver, constantly improve, and reach high levels of performance. The Manager provides a safe environment where people take ownership for their decisions and actions. The Software Engineering Manager ensures the people they serve are aware of and understand the what and the why of current priorities. The Manager will take a responsibility for a group of Software Engineers in multiple teams and support their development, guiding them in removing their impediments as a servant-leader. 

Responsibilities:

  • Performs key people management responsibilities including hiring and supervising team members
  • Actively coaches the development and career aspirations of employees
  • Monitor and provide performance feedback on a regular basis to ensure individuals are performing at the expected levels
  • Ensure teams is properly focused and aligned with departmental and organizational goals
  • Guide teams to understand and reduce escaped defects
  • Continuously work to improve team dynamics and operational maturity of the organization
  • Ensure teams follow engineering best practices, department processes and standards
  • Contribute to the development of engineering strategies, tactics and priorities
  • Align teams with our culture, ensuring that they understand Jamf values, mission, goals, and priorities
  • Ensure everyone can make the connection between the work they are doing and the greater organization
  • Work with other leaders to improve the engineering department operational environment
  • Ensure effective application of Lean principles and Agile development practices
  • Creates an environment where all job responsibilities are in alignment with the core values, mission and purpose of the organization
  • Fosters a workplace with the highest moral, ethical and legal standards to deliver an environment that promotes respect, innovation and creativity

Skills & Requirements

  • 4-year / Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field (Required)
  • Preferred Certifications/Licensures: (Certified Scrum Masters training (CSM training), Certified Scrum Developer training (CSD training), Certified Scrum Product Owner training (CSPO training)) 
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven Analytical abilities
  • Ability to communicate complex technical terms in an understandable, non-technical manner
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers in a results-driven culture
  • Self-starter, energetic multi-tasker, highly motivated and team player
  • Ability to engage with and establish trust and rapport with all levels of customers and employees
  • Agile practitioner experienced in Scrum or Kanban

 

Location: Minneapolis, MN or Eau Claire, WI

Travel: Less than 10%
