Procurement Category Manager, Technology

Manages activities in the procurement and logistics function.  Ensures products and services are purchased in the most cost and time-efficient manner.


Responsible for the timely procurement of materials and services from suppliers while adhering to the negotiated price, quality, inventory levels and delivery to meet the Company’s overall needs, aligned with Company’s sourcing strategies, policies and procedures. This position will work closely with other internal departments to ensure that the company’s IT services/products meet our customers’ expectations of superior service quality and maximize overall value for MINDBODY.


Skills & Requirements


  • 4-year college degree required or combination of education or certification and equivalent experience
  • 6 - 8 years experience in Information Technology Procurement
  • Relationship builder - Ability to cultivate strong cross functional relationships and communicate effectively with team members and business partners
  • Experience operating within a high growth procurement organization
  • Ability to complete multiple, time-sensitive contracts with minimal guidance
  • Ability to manage and resolve material business issues with vendors around delivery and contractual compliance through negotiation, financial and/or legal means
  • Start-up mentality: minimum guidance, creative, fearless and constantly iterating to be best-in-class
  • Innovation - Enthusiasm for improving and enhancing systems and workflows (learn the existing process and then build/challenge it to better scale for growth while providing meaningful reporting to our business partners)
  • Experience with Word, Excel, email and Saas applications such as ServiceNow, NetSuite or ERP, CLM, and PtoP suites



  • Regularly evaluate suppliers for quality, delivery, commercial and technical performance
  • Make sourcing decisions that demonstrate a solid understanding of commercial terms, price quotes, discounts, schedules, etc
  • Accurately issue purchase orders using ERP system (NetSuite)
  • Own multiple types of contracts (new, renewal and settlement) across a wide variety of services and pricing models with focus on indirect spend
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in vendor evaluations, commercial negotiations and cost savings
  • Negotiate contract terms with vendors that are in line with corporate legal requirements, considering cost, risk and speed
  • Ensure maximum value and optimal spend in each contract through knowledge of vendor services, spend analytics and competitive leverage
  • Assist in resolving billing, delivery and return issues with suppliers
  • Work to meet financial objectives by monitoring and reporting on costs, investigating variances and recommending new approaches to reduce costs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for the category, including supplier performance management (scorecards) and optimization efforts
  • Identify, evaluate, and select vendors to meet internal business needs
  • Assist in performing supplier capability assessments.
  • Contribute to sourcing process requirements and completing necessary documentation for category RFx (procurement landscape)
  • Develop total cost of ownership analyses
  • Lead supplier escalation processes and supplier relationship management/issue resolution
  • Drive implementation planning and execution for identified purchasing opportunities within new or existing suppliers and solutions
  • Develop, facilitate and deliver PowerPoint presentations to senior leadership
  • Track ongoing compliance of category and drive escalation process for non-approved system spend activities
  • Drive and manage escalation and approval process for non-standard spend and compliance activities
  • Identify and initiate change management opportunities and develop recommendations
  • Project/program management of special projects within the category
  • Solicit formal and informal bids for requested services, taking into account price, terms, delivery, compatibility, total cost, and contractor’s ability to meet its responsibilities
  • Implement strategic alliances to leverage volume and scale with select vendors
  • All other duties as assigned
