As the Director of Infrastructure Operations reporting to the Sr VP of Engineering you will be responsible for the operations of all of Ping Identity’s production, customer facing cloud services fed by internal application development CICD pipelines. Responsibilities include infrastructure architecture, performance, availability, incident, capacity, budget, configuration, and change management processes and tools to support 24x7 uptime and availability SLAs. This position is also responsible for supporting the global engineering teams’ pipelines through the creation, maintenance, and support of development and test environments. Finally, this position will be a key contributor to Ping Identity’s IDaaS strategy.

Job Functions:

  • Responsible for 24x7 uptime and availability of production mission critical customer facing cloud services distributed across multiple regions
  • Achieve high levels of service availability and performance through the implementation of infrastructure architecture, tools, automation, and processes
  • Effective and efficient incident management tools, and processes
  • Engage with product development teams to triage production issues, develop RCA reports, and develop action plans to continuously improve quality and reliability
  • Coordinate with sales and customer success teams to address customer concerns and communicate mitigation plans in a timely manner
  • Manage key strategic vendor relationships such as AWS and others who provide critical software and services
  • Create, track, and report budget, operational metrics, KPIs, and project status for all aspects of operations
  • Present periodic updates to business stakeholders, leaders, executives, and senior management
  • Provide infrastructure and tools support for global engineering development and test efforts
  • Implement capacity management tools and processes to effectively monitor, analyze, and plan for infrastructure resource needs
  • Oversee and manage efforts to improve quality, reliability, and increase velocity of service delivery
  • Lead the evaluation of emerging technologies and tools in support of operations and engineering initiatives
  • Responsible for department resource planning and budgeting
  • Responsible for the overall success of the team including planning, career development, staffing, and organization of site reliability engineers
Skills & Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing 24x7 production operations for a high-volume, business-critical cloud service
  • Significant experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience operating in an agile DevOps oriented organization and culture
  • A strong enthusiastic and creative leader with the ability to inspire others
  • Strong strategic business acumen in order to make decisions that result in superior results for the company
  • Significant experience building, developing, and scaling teams
  • A very effective communicator understanding the significance and appropriate use of various communication channels and tone based on circumstances and audience
  • Promote confidence in communications with team, company, and customers
  • The ability to build effective relationships with internal business stakeholders and external partners
  • Strong organizational and business planning skills
  • Ability to demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations
  • Significant experience managing IT vendor relationships
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with AWS Services including EC2, EBS, VPC’s, and RDS
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification
  • Experience with Cassandra, Kafka, and distributed big data systems
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as NewRelic, Splunk, and Nagios
  • Experience with Micro-Services, Docker, and container orchestration
  • Experience implementing security compliance frameworks such as SOC and ISO in an agile CICD DevOps environment
  • Experience with other public or private cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud is a plus
