Senior Security Engineer

Cvent’s Information Security team is rapidly growing and seeks a Senior Security Engineer to play a crucial role in expanding our footprint and protecting the organization. The position is a technical hands-on role that involves security tooling, configuration and tuning of security devices, analysis of network and web threats, security architectures, new technology designs, and other potential areas. This person should be able to adapt quickly and find creative ways to implement security in a fast-paced and high-profile technology landscape. The position will most certainly be involved in solutions for Cloud Security but may also be called on to aid in engineering efforts for other programmatic areas like Endpoint Security, Network Security, Threat Intelligence, Data Protection, Security Logging, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response, and Identify Credential & Access Management (ICAM). The position will work with the latest security tools, systems, and network technologies. A thirst for knowledge, a curious mind, and a desire to continuously stay abreast of new developments. In the dynamic security space is a must.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Drive security engineering efforts and tool integration (e.g. Splunk, AWS, Carbon Black) across our product and enterprise
  • Assist in security automation to perform automated responsive security tasks to assist in scaling operations
  • Configure, tune, and upgrade security devices to ensure proper detection and capability
  • Participate in re-architecture plans of existing infrastructure and security products
  • Participate in CloudOps and DevOps architecture design reviews and provide security recommendations
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other departments in the company to ensure that security is championed throughout their process
  • Assist in technical audit activity to ensure compliance with security policies and other industry standards (e.g. PCI, ISO27001, SOC1/SOC2)
  • Assist in vulnerability assessments, security control checks, and reporting.  Understand system security vulnerabilities and associated threats.
  • Research, evaluate, plan, document, and implement new security tools within our environments
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior security engineers

What You Need for the Position

  • 5+ years of experience in network and web security with exposure to cloud security a plus
  • Bachelors degree in an Information Technology related field of study or equivalent experience; relevant, industry recognized security certification such as CISSP or CISA
  • Experience with the AWS platform and services such as Config, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, S3, WAF, GuardDuty, Shield
  • Experience with Splunk and EDR tools such as Carbon Black
  • Experience with IDS/IPS, NGFW, SIEM, WAF, DLP tools
  • Ability to adapt to a hyper-growth pace and changing priorities
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Expert knowledge of information security principles, networks, operating systems, web applications and a level of familiarity with malicious code and common techniques used by hackers
  • Knowledge of high traffic and other cloud-based infrastructures and how they affect security needs (i.e. cloud infrastructure, AWS, VMWare, SOA architectures)
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, networking concepts, and services such as DNS, SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS
  • Some level of programming/scripting: Java, ASP.Net, Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell scripting, etc particularly as they pertain to automation tasks
  • Experience with incident response, and understanding malware such as worms, viruses, and trojans
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision
